Analytical Chemistry was founded in 1952, which is composed of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and the Research Center for Engineering and Technology of Spectral Instruments of Jilin Province. It is mainly engaged in the teaching and research of basic analytical chemistry, the research of new methods, and new technologies of analytical chemistry and the development of precision analytical instruments. In 1993, the discipline was authorized as one of the first groups of programs entitled to award doctoral degrees and was evaluated as a provincial key discipline in 1994.
Based on previous teaching and research practice, through talent introduction and self-construction, the discipline has formed a teaching and research team with good comprehensive quality, high academic level, reasonable academic structure and talent ecosystem, and full of innovative spirit.
On the basis of careful analysis of the development trend and characteristics of analytical chemistry at home and abroad, as well as the needs of national economic construction and social development, a basically complete discipline system has been formed from basic research, applied basic research to the development, engineering and industrialization of analytical instruments, as well as seven relatively stable research directions, namely:
(1) Nano-biological and Medical Analysis;
(2) Spectrochemical Analytical Chemistry;
(3) Electroanalytical Chemistry;
(4) Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry;
(5) New Technologies of Mass Spectra and Chromatography Analysis;
(6) Separate and Analyzing Complex Sample;
(7) Research and Development of Analytical Instruments.
It has made great progress in some research fields and formed its own characteristics, many of which have been recognized by scholars at home and abroad.
The discipline has opened up some new areas of interdisciplinary research in line with the concept of innovation intersection and key breakthroughs to meet the great demand in life science and nanoscience. Through the introduction of high-level talents and self-training to enrich the research force, with nanotechnology and biotechnology as research methods, focusing on the key research problems in life science, and environmental science and the analysis and testing of national security and unexpected events, the discipline develops the traditional research directions of light, electricity, and color. Several research directions, such as “Nanobiology and Medical Analysis”, “New Technology of Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography”, “Separation and Analysis of Complex Samples” and “Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry”, have been developed rapidly. After years of construction, the research fields have covered the main research directions of analytical science at present and have become one of the important bases for high-level talent cultivation and scientific research of Analytical Chemistry in China.
Based on the demand of national development strategy for analytical instruments based on principle innovation and independent intellectual property rights. Analytical Chemistry at Jilin University has been focusing on the research, development, and achievement transformation of scientific instruments for several years, and has made great achievements. In 2000, Changchun Jida Little Swan Instrument Co Ltd. was established with the achievements of independent intellectual property rights, “High Sensitive Photometer and MPT Spectrometer”, and was successfully transformed into industrialization in 2001. In 2002, the Research Center for Engineering and Technology of Spectral Instruments of Jilin Province was set up. Relying on the comprehensive high-tech strength of Jilin University, it has made many important achievements in the research and development of spectral analysis instruments and related technologies. The center has undertaken more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, including five national scientific and technological research tasks, all of which have been successfully transformed in Changchun Jida Little Swan Co Ltd. and realized industrialization.
